Meta description: Discover permanent makeup eyebrows and microblading for mature skin in Victoria, BC, bespoke, conservative brow artistry by Canada’s Eye Brow Queen at AGE LESS.
Your brows do not need fixing
After 40, many clients notice changes in their brows. Decades of over-plucking may have reduced density. Hormonal shifts can thin the brow line. Natural asymmetry becomes more noticeable, and the tails may appear sparse even when the rest of the brow remains intact.
That does not mean you need to change who you are. It means you deserve options designed for the skin, structure and lifestyle you have now.
Permanent makeup eyebrows can reduce the daily reliance on pencils and powders while restoring soft definition. The most refined approach does not create a heavy, identical brow on every face. It builds a personalised shape that respects your expression, facial proportions and natural colouring.
At AGE LESS Laser+Clinic, permanent makeup is performed by Mari Silva, known as Canada’s Eye Brow Queen. Her approach is bespoke, conservative and designed for graceful, long-term Appearance Enhancement.
Why mature skin requires a different approach
Mature skin often has less elasticity, a thinner surface and a slower healing response than younger skin. Previous sun exposure, skincare procedures and earlier cosmetic tattooing may also influence how pigment settles and holds.
Existing asymmetry requires careful assessment. A brow that looks balanced when the face is relaxed may need a different design when you smile, speak or lift your forehead. Natural brow hair, skin texture and the underlying brow bone all contribute to the final design.
Mature skin rewards restraint.
A conservative colour strategy, finer definition and gradual shaping can create a more natural healed appearance than a strong, predetermined template. Pigment may heal softer than it appears immediately after the Session. The design must allow for that transition.
A thorough assessment also considers:
- Existing brow hair and areas of loss
- Brow bone structure and facial proportions
- Natural asymmetry
- Skin thickness, texture and oil production
- Previous permanent makeup or tattoo pigment
- Hair colour, eye colour and undertone
- Your daily makeup routine and desired level of definition
This is why a high-volume clinic or generic med-spa approach may not suit mature clients. A one-size-fits-all brow design cannot account for the details that make your face individual.
The bespoke brow-mapping Session
The process begins with design, not pigment.
Mari studies the natural brow architecture, measures facial balance and maps a shape that supports your features rather than overpowering them. The colour is selected with attention to your undertone and the way the pigment is expected to soften as it heals.
The first Session follows a conservative philosophy. The objective is to establish balanced definition and create a foundation for the second deposition of pigment. Mature skin does not need an aggressive approach to produce a polished result.
You remain part of the design process. The proposed shape and colour are reviewed before the application begins, allowing the Approach to remain collaborative, clear and personalised.

Microblading PLUS: a two-part proprietary brow method
Microblading PLUS is AGE LESS Laser+Clinic’s exclusive proprietary brow method. It is not the same as typical microblading.
Traditional microblading generally uses a non-energy-based handheld tool to place pigment superficially, with results often fading in approximately 8 to 12 months. Microblading PLUS uses a double-application process with digital technology to deposit pigment in the dermal layer, supporting retention of roughly 2 to 5 years.
The second deposition takes place 4 to 6 weeks after the initial Session. This is an essential part of the design, not a standard touch-up added later. It allows the clinician to assess how the pigment has healed, refine the shape and complete the intended colour depth with greater control.
More than 5,000 Microblading PLUS Sessions have been performed. The method is selected according to the client’s skin, existing brow structure and desired outcome. For some mature clients, a softer digital approach may be more appropriate than traditional manual hair-stroke work.

Expertise matters more than speed
Mari Silva’s brow artistry is grounded in extensive training and years of close observation of facial structure, colour and expression.
Before founding AGE LESS Laser+Clinic, Mari worked as a makeup artist for a major French cosmetic house in London, England. Her European training includes esthetics and makeup artistry for television and photography, where precision, symmetry and camera-ready colour are essential.
Her permanent makeup education was extensive, one-on-one and conducted with a retired plastic surgeon. This is fundamentally different from a brief weekend crash course or a generic online certification.
That depth of preparation matters when working with mature skin. Brow artistry requires an understanding of how skin texture, facial movement, pigment depth and healing interact. It also requires the discipline to know when less is more.
AGE LESS has served Esquimalt and the greater Victoria area since 2000, providing personalised clinical esthetics and Appearance Enhancement Strategies in a calm, professional setting.
What a realistic healed result looks like
A well-planned healed result should provide soft, natural definition that supports your face. It should not look like a rigid stamp or overpower your eyes.
Immediately after a Session, brows may appear stronger than the final healed colour. As the skin recovers, the colour generally settles and softens. The second deposition at 4 to 6 weeks allows the design to be refined once the initial healing response has been assessed.
A refresh may be considered around 12 to 18 months as general guidance, although timing depends on skin type, sun exposure, skincare habits and the client’s preferred level of definition. Oily skin may fade more quickly, while regular unprotected sun exposure can accelerate pigment fading.
The objective is not to promise an identical timeline for every person. It is to create a considered brow design and a maintenance strategy that supports your desired outcome over time.

Frequently asked questions
Is permanent makeup suitable for mature skin?
Yes. Mature skin can be suitable for permanent makeup eyebrows when the Approach accounts for skin thickness, elasticity, healing, existing brow hair and previous cosmetic tattooing. An assessment determines the most conservative colour, shape and pigment-deposition Strategy for your skin. Permanent makeup is an Appearance Enhancement treatment, not a requirement to change your natural features.
How is microblading on mature skin different?
Microblading for mature skin requires careful control of depth, spacing, colour and design. Thinner or more delicate skin may heal softer, and existing asymmetry or brow loss must be considered during mapping. The clinician may recommend a digital technique or a more softly defined Approach rather than conventional manual hair strokes.
What is Microblading PLUS?
Microblading PLUS is AGE LESS Laser+Clinic’s exclusive proprietary brow method. It uses a double-application process with digital technology to deposit pigment in the dermal layer. The second deposition occurs 4 to 6 weeks after the initial Session and is part of the planned Protocol, rather than a standard touch-up.
How long does it last on mature skin?
Microblading PLUS has retention of roughly 2 to 5 years, depending on the client’s skin, lifestyle, sun exposure, skincare routine and desired level of definition. A refresh may be considered around 12 to 18 months to maintain a polished appearance, particularly when the colour has softened.
Does it look natural?
The design is created to provide soft, balanced definition that works with your natural brow hair, facial proportions and colouring. Conservative mapping and colour selection help the healed result remain understated rather than heavy. The goal is progress toward your desired outcome, not an identical brow shape applied to every Client.
Does the Session hurt?
Comfort is addressed throughout the Session. Medical-grade topical anaesthetics may be used, and the clinician works at a controlled pace with attention to mature skin and individual sensitivity. Clients are encouraged to communicate openly so comfort remains part of the Approach.
What happens at the first appointment?
The first appointment includes a consultation, facial and brow assessment, design mapping, colour selection and a detailed discussion of your desired outcome. Existing permanent makeup, skin conditions, medications and relevant health considerations should be disclosed. The initial pigment application follows only after the proposed shape and colour have been reviewed together.
